Weeks that go fast?

I realize that it has been almost a week since my last post! This week went SOO fast! I had lots to do during the week and then the weekend just flew like the flying monkeys in The Wizard of Oz. Linzy, Jessie, and Zeffy came down to visit me at good ol' UC :) We had a blast friday through sunday, at which point I got to spend time with my family! It was so nice! The best memorial day weekend ever!!! I'm glad the week went by fast so summer can arrive, but I don't want freshman year to be over!! Oh the conflicts. I'm so excited for class to be over and to be with my home frie(nd)s. 


I packed up a bunch of stuff from my dorm and sent it home with my parents. It was bitter sweet (like chocolate chips.) I can NOT believe this year is almost over (less than 2 weeks.) It's nonsense I say; we just moved in like 2 days ago!! I've had a GREAT year. Learned a lot about life, people, and myself. I am super happy and have made some truly wonderful friends :D AND I MADE A BLOG! Heck yes.

Summer Dusk

Dusk is my favorite time of day. There is so much potential left in the night, not to mention it is beautiful, especially on a day like today when the weather was PERFECT! It also is a great time to just relax and reflect on your day or prep for the events of the evening, both of which are enjoyable. I even saw a lightening bug today :) I wanted to catch it in a jar.

Summer has arrived in Cincinnati. I love the feeling of the warm sun rays on my skin. It is so nice after months of cold weather.  I just love all the seasons, but especially the transitions. The first warm day or the first snow flake or the first leaf to change color is always a sweet surprise for me, yet I am sad to see the last season go. I guess that's why I like dusk; it's the transition from day to night; you have to say goodbye to the day, but there is so much potential ahead. 

I also love the smell of summer air. At dusk today the air smelled perfect, had the perfect humidity, and was the perfect temperature/amount of breeze. I was just takin it all in after a day of hot sunshine. This whole day was amazing, although it went way too fast with the daylight lasting so long. The night goes by TOO fast. Summer here I come!!

Jungle Jim's

If you have not been to Jungle Jim's, you have not lived. I am so serious. It is the best place ever. If you don't know, it's a ginormous grocery store in Fairfield Ohio, but it is not JUST a grocery store! It is THE ULTIMATE grocery store with anything and everything you could possibly imagine (food wise). 

I went with my cousin Sarah who is in town from Delewhere?, her "boyfriend" Ben, her friend Gillian, and my brother Dom. We bought LOTS of stuff (well I don't have the much money so I didn't get that much, but the others did :)) We rode in Ben's dad's company car which is an Infinity. That was also fun :) 


So... about the food... I at a LOT!! Mostly samples and such. I don't even know where to start! I wrote down all of the stuff that everyone bought :) I guess I could start there.We all chowed down on this stuff.


1. Mozzarella, basil, and garlic in olive oil (probably the best thing we had! Yummm)
2. Italian bread (eaten with olive oil from mozzarella and fresh cracked prepper! One of my favorite foods in the world!!)
3. Pepperoni and Mozzarella rolled - Though this was bought packaged, they actually have a mozzarella station where you can get things like this hand rolled to your liking :)
4. Bremner cracked wheat crackers
5. Scottish Cheddar cheese - so good! Gillian is from Scotland! So we wanted to get something Scottish!

Chemistry Tests

I absolutely love chemistry tests. WHEN THEY ARE OVER! I missed two days of posts! For what you ask? Must I say it? CHEMISTRY! Booooo. Hopefully I did well. I'm not gonna say anything about it because I don't want to jinx myself (but I feel like I did a lot better than last time.) Well this is probably the most boring thing ever. I'm Carrie and I'm talking about my chemistry test... but I have some advice to give you!


LISTEN TO SOMETHING REALLY EMOTIONAL AND MOTIVATIONAL RIGHT BEFORE YOUR TEST!!
On the way to class I listened to Defying Gravity from Wicked. It actually came on my shuffle on my iPod and I got super excited! I was ready for the test! Let me tell you. In my mind I was like "i''mmmm defyyying chemistry teeeests!" I'm sorry. I'm aware this is super lame, but I am who I am, and you know you're gonna try it now.

I get goosebumps just thinking about Wicked! It was the first show I ever saw on Broadway in NEW YORK CITY annnnd the ORIGINAL CAST! Heck yes. That means I saw Idina Menzel! Soooo amazing! 

Speaking of musicals (nice transition eh?), I saw Legally Blonde the Musical with my pi phi sisters last night :) I cannot stop singing "Oh my God! Oh my God you guys!" Yes the musical is that ridiculous AND that amazing! I had a great time. LOVE the UPS guy ;) That was probably my favorite part of the show, and I swear the girl playing Elle Woods looked exactly like Reese Witherspoon. She even sounded like her. Oh and the dogs in the show were incredible and oh so cute. I'd have to say the crowd reacted most to the dogs. haha nice. I had a great time :)

I'll have to say more about my love for musicals another time. Love you all! Love Life! Love that my chemistry test is over and I get to spend some time with my cousin Sarah this weekend, fresh off the plane from Phili! I also get to go to my brother's defense of his thesis on Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy. Oh yeah! Peace dawgs. ☮

I also love how Ke$ha always wears glitter and holds her hair. hahaha. All year I've been talking about throwing a glitter party where it is required that you wear glitter to get in and in the party there will be glitter everywhere! The problem is where exactly to throw this glitter party... after all, there will be glitter everywhere and that MIGHT be difficult to clean up. Some day it'll happen. You'll see. Glitter party inspired by Ke$ha. And I'll be playing Ke$ha music, especially 'Take it Off' because the lyrics include "there's glitter on the floor." Oh yeah!! TAZA

Lately I've been dying to try TAZA, this coffee shop right by my dorm. Well today I finally got here and it's great! (except it's really hot in here) Why have I not been here before today? I just don't know...

Haley and I came here to work on some homework and get some good coffee! She got a latte and I got an Americano, both of which are absolutely superb tasting and look beautiful! Sorry we already had a few sips by the time I took this picture with my computer :) so you can't see the pretty swirls and everything.

So the amazingness of this place: we watched the guy grind the coffee right before making the drinks and the coffee is bold bold bold and good good good! AND they have this thing called a "bottomless ugly mug" and you can fill it as much as you want! I think I might be getting that one next time! Although, the guy at the counter did admit not ALL the mugs are ugly anymore. OH well. 

You can't really capture the atmosphere and coolness of this place by these pictures, but that's the refill station there and the counter. The architecture and interior design of this place is really cool. I'm a fan of the brick wall and loft/high ceiling There's a really chill vibe and cool art and stuff everywhere. Definitely not your typical Starbucks coffee shop.

Ok, I just walked upstairs to check it out, and there are more tables and some cool chairs. It's like a loft up there with some games (like apples to apples :)) and even the bathroom was cool! Big bowl sinks and soft soap! Soft soap is the bomb. 


Aw man, I'm almost done with my Americano. Should've gotten an ugly mug... well now I know. There are a lot more things to explore here, but I feel like an idiot wandering around.. sooo I'll let you know some other time, Maybe I can get some more pictures in here... or you can just come yourself! I'll go! Haley said there is a huge hanging tv upstairs... I did not even see that. I guess I'm just overwhelmed. haha. oh man. Welp, time to do some chemistry homework in my cool new hang ;)
